Start the day off with delicious Finnish coffee and Oatmeal with a twist!

From a country that consumes more coffee per capita than any other country in the world, we can assume they know a thing or two about making a delicious kickstart for your mornings. If coffee isn’t your thing, try out this tasty porridge recipe below, balancing a healthy start with a sweetened twist.
Finnish Coffee
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp finely ground coffee
- 2-3 tsp sugar (depending on how sweet you like your coffee)
- 1/2 tsp cardamom
- Water
Method:
- Bring the water to a boil in a camping kettle
- Add the coffee, sugar and cardamom
- Bring back to the boil twice (don’t know exactly why, but I was told this numerous times in Finland)
- Leave the grounds to settle for 2-3 minutes
- Serve
Porridge with clementine, nutmeg, hazelnut butter and dark chocolate
Ingredients
- 50g oatmeal
- Water
- Juice 1 clementine
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tbsp hazelnut and dark chocolate butter
Or
- 1 tbsp hazelnut butter, plus
- 1 square dark chocolate
Method:
- Pour oatmeal and nutmeg powder into an insulated mug or insulated food flask
- Bring water to the boil.
- Pour to the top of the oats, plus 1cm extra.
- Cover the flask/mug and leave to soak for 5-10 minutes.
- Uncover and stir.
- Add clementine juice and the nut butter, plus the dark chocolate.
- Stir again and serve
