Andrew is one of the country’s foremost authorities on walking – regularly writing for magazines like BBC Countryfile, Walk and Camping, appearing on BBC local radio and now writing, presenting and producing his own television series – just don’t ask him what Ben Nevis is like. Or Scafell Pike. He’s seen the top of Snowdon though… by going up on the train. No, Andrew isn’t your usual professional walker. His thing is short walks between 2 – 8 miles, all designed to be done within a day; suitable for families & friends – be they the human or canine kind; and always with a story, theme or purpose. It was because of this outlook, he has been an OS Champion since 2018.
Andrew’s TV programme, Walks Around Britain, is the longest-running British walking series, and the team are currently filming season six. It’s available on 20 UK TV channels, around the world on Amazon’s Prime Video and now on the dedicated video on demand subscription site Walks Around Britain+. The Walks Around Britain podcast is one of the most listened to outdoor podcasts in Britain.
Today, thanks to his work on radio, magazines and television – as well as the Walks Around Britain website, social media, DVDs, podcasts, the television series, books and magazines, Andrew is possibly the most influential outdoor journalist in the country.
