22–23 Mar 2025 358 days to go! #GetOutside

Emily Thompson

I’m passionate about sharing my love of the outdoors with others both through my social media and also through walks and activities that I run through my business Tinkadventures. I have been a GetOutside champion for the Ordnance Survey for 4 years promoting their message of access to the outdoors for all, and encouraging wider environmental messages such as Leave no Trace.
I’m a keen fell and trail runner, and love longer distances and in particular orienteering as I love the navigational challenge – Im not a particularly fast runner and when I share my adventures it’s more about where I am and the enjoyment than only is about speed. I also a keen climber and mountaineer – in 2019 I got a first ascent in Kyrgyzstan on a 5000m peak.
As much as I love alpine adventures and huge expeditions and Scottish winter climbing, I also love exploring locally and making the most of where I live in the Peak District. I’m also an ambassador for HerOutdoors an initiative to increase women’s engagement in outdoor activities. I love seeing the increase in confidence gained from being outdoors and learning new skills.
I’m also a director of Mountain Training UKI and keen to promote safe adventures outdoors in the mountains and encourage people to gain skills to have great adventures.
