Helen Dodd completed her PhD at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. She is now a Professor of Child Psychology at the University of Exeter, UK. Her research focuses on the development of anxiety disorders in children, with a particular focus on understanding how we might prevent so many children becoming anxious. She holds a UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship which funds a substantial program of research focusing on children’s outdoor risky and adventurous play. She has an interest in the psychological benefits of adventure, play, time in nature and outdoor learning, with a focus on the role of schools and parents in supporting these activities.
