Hello!
I live on the beautiful Wirral Peninsula. From a young age, I have always loved the outdoors… I have many fond memories (and embarrassing photos!) of family holidays and Guide camps! I still love camping, especially in Beddgelert and around Snowdonia. I’ve fallen in love with the valleys and hills around the area. I find them so captivating whatever the weather!
My favourite adventures are often local, as well as North Wales, Cheshire and the Lake District. We’re blessed with beautiful countryside in the UK, and I strongly believe that the outdoors promotes good mental health and wellbeing. I certainly find peace and joy when I’m out for a plod or stroll.
I am a Speech and Language Therapist, but in my spare time I enjoy exploring the local area with friends and family…. rain or shine! During lockdown, my love of the outdoors grew more; a socially distanced walk with friends to watch the sunset or explore the local footpaths was the highlight of my week! Even if I don’t venture too far afield around the globe, or do super-duper endurance, I still like to live-out those kind of amazing adventures through attending the biannual Banff Mountain Film Festival!
In my previous job, alongside my speech and language therapy role, I was a DofE Leader in a special needs school where many young people have learning disabilities or are neurodivergent. Alongside a fantastic team, I help young people to access the award by supporting their language and communication skills. I believe that everyone should have equal opportunity to access and enjoy the outdoors. I now continue to support the school as a Volunteer on their DofE expeditions.
I attended the Outdoor Expo in March 2022 for the first time, with a group of equally passionate outdoor loving friends! We enjoyed every minute of the event – from speakers, to shop stalls and reps. It was nice to meet likeminded people who share a joy and love of the outdoors from across the globe. I especially enjoyed listening to Iwan and Richard speak about their experiences on Hunted! It was inspiring and particularly great to hear Iwan talk about his own neurodivergent qualities. Of course, my friends and I also loved the photo opportunity with Ben Fogle! I also spent a few pocket money pennies on exciting new kit and gadgets from the stalls. However, in return I discovered a great new charity (KitSquad) to donate some of my old kit to on the day.
I would love to become part of the 2023 Outdoor Expo ambassador programme – to share my passion for inclusivity and accessibility!
