My name is Sam Arden, I’m 35 years old and live on the west coast of Cumbria with my husband, son and 2 Golden Retrievers. I adore being outdoors and spending time adventuring both on my own and with the family. My son is 5 years old and I have always encouraged him to enjoy the outdoors. He has already walked 5 Wainwrights and we spend our weekends out walking in the Lake District fells, geocaching or kayaking. I am a Summer Mountain Leader and Duke of Edinburgh Award Expedition Supervisor and Assessor. I adore being outdoors and have completed 2 ultra marathons around Windermere as well as numerous trail runs and long distance walking events.
I have also completed the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt and I am hoping to go to Borneo in February to climb Mount Kinabalu. There’s nowhere greater than home though and I feel so fortunate to have been able to lead walking groups across the UK, from the spectacular Scottish Highlands to the wild and wonderful wilderness of Dartmoor.
I attended the Outdoor Expo last year with friends and we stayed from the minute it opened till the minute it closed! I was blown away with the diverse range of stalls and activities to see and loved chatting with likeminded people who all enjoy the outdoors in different ways. The speakers were fantastic and as an avid fan of Hunted, hearing Iwan and Richard speak of their adventure was fantastic. Shame I still haven’t been able to convince a friend to apply with me for the show…yet!
I would love to become a part of the ambassador programme and can’t wait to see what is planned for the 2023 show!
