Winnie is a keen hiker, (trail) runner, cyclist, paddleboarder, SCUBA diver and gardener, and is always up for trying a new outdoor activity.
She is an environmental scientists with a PhD studying plastic pollution. Her research has taken her to some of the remotest parts of the planet including sailing across the North Atlantic Ocean and it’s so called ‘garbage patch’ and into the South Pacific Ocean with an all-female team.
Winnie firmly believes that adventures aren’t just about the furthest, longest or hardest route. They are about spending time enjoying the scenery, being at peace and reconnecting to yourself and to the environment around you- the ultimate form of mindfulness!
She has gained first-hand experience of the restorative benefits of outdoor exercise and wants to encourage others, particularly women, to let go of their inhibitions, step outside their comfort zone and enjoy the benefits of pursuing outdoor hobbies.
Winnie loves exploring new places both abroad and locally and is at her happiest when she’s by the ocean- whether that’s it in, on it or just walking near it. Currently, she is walking the South West coast path in stages from her home in Devon, UK, which she shares through her social media.
