Zoe Langley-Wathen and Mike Langley

Zoe Langley-Wathen and Mike Langley are living proof that adventure has no age limit. Their friendship began on the South West Coast Path in 2011 and by 2016, they were married in an 800-year-old chapel along the same trail, honeymooning on the Camino de Santiago.

Zoe, 53, a former secondary school teacher, is now an author, speaker, and host of the HeadRightOut podcast, inspiring midlife women to embrace outdoor challenges. Mike, 72, a retired carpenter and publican, has spent his life seeking bold adventures and refuses to let age slow him down.

Together, they’ve walked thousands of miles, including the full perimeter of Wales—Zoe as the first woman to walk it, Mike as the first over-60. Mike has summited every Welsh mountain in a single challenge, cycled from Abergavenny to Spain at 63, and walked the Camino again at 71, just seven months after his second hip replacement.

In April 2025, Zoe’s debut memoir, 630 Miles Braver – Midlifing on the South West Coast Path, is published. Then, in October, they embark on their most ambitious challenge yet: One Coast, Any Age—a 7,300-mile unsupported walk around mainland Great Britain.

“Nature doesn’t check your birth certificate,”says Zoe. “Life is a great adventure, for everyone, at any age,” adds Mike.
