The latest 9km by 9am walk takes us on a linear walk to the summit of Sugar Loaf in the Black Mountains near Abergavenny in South Wales. 2 hours 43 minutes – Distance 6.00KM.
SUGAR LOAF
The Sugar Loaf is a hill situated 2 miles north-west of Abergavenny in Monmouthshire, Wales and sits within the Brecon Beacons National Park.
It is the southernmost of the summit peaks of the Black Mountains, with a height of 1,955 feet 596M.
The view from the summit covers the Black Mountains to the north, the Cotswolds to the east, the Brecon Beacons to the west, including Pen Y Fan, and the Bristol Channel to the south.
On a clear day it is possible to see hills as far north as Shropshire and as far south as Somerset.
The Sugar Loaf is very popular with walkers and offers easy ascents on foot from the Sugar Loaf car park, at about 1,000 feet (300 m), or longer ascents from Abergavenny, Crickhowell or Llangenny.
WALK ELEVATION – 325.8 metres.
